Anne-Caroline Chausson (France)

It was the last competitive race for the 30-year-old Chausson, a multiple world champion in downhill mountain biking who came back to her first love of BMX two years ago after it was included on the Olympic programme.

"It's been a long two years of hard work, but this is definitely my last race," said Chausson, who stopped BMX when she was 13 years old to take up mountain biking.

"To finish as Olympic champion, having applied all the things we've worked on in training for this over the past two years is just amazing."

...

"It wasn't easy,'' said Chausson. "All the mistakes I've made in the last few races, in the last few years, I tried to show nothing of them in these games.''

...

"It's really the work of two years to end up here. It's an immense satisfaction to get to here,'' said Chausson, 30, for whom this was the last competitive BMX race.

MARIS STROMBERGS - LATVIA

Rider Interview – Maris Strombergs

Name: Maris Strombergs

Nickname: Strombis
Age: 20
Nationality: Latvia
Hometown: Valmiera

BMX Club: Talava
Sponsor: ONE Bicycles
Years racing: 14

Latest achievements: European Champion Junior Men in 2005

Thoughts on your 2006 season: Actually last season wasn’t very good for me, maybe it’s because of it was my first year in Elite but I was a little bit dissapointed !

Hopes for the 2007 season: I don’t think about it! Will see....

Thoughts on the EC Rounds 1+2 in Belgium Track: really really bad !

Setting: Definitely better than track Smiley

Racing: Race was good!

Thoughts on the Olympics, what are your goals ?

At first to get there, to be one of those 32 riders ! After that get through the track, which probably won’t be easy and then win this race Smiley

Do you think the Olympics will portray what BMX racing is ?

I know that the audience likes supercross races so they will like Olympic race too Smiley

Olympics good or bad thing ?
Good thing! If some day they will take out BMX from Olympic Schedule, then no future for BMX anymore ! Thats just my opinion !

Clips or No clips ? Definitely clips ! BMX is sprint so you need to be as fast as it possible ! Without clipse you can ride in trails !

Anything you would like to add ?
I would like to thank my family, friends, my coach, my bike mechanic, team ONE Bicycles, all sponsors ( Nike, MXM sport, Bombshell, Thomson, Kenda, Shimano, Bollé, Odi, THE, Bomba, Fi’zi:k, WLM, BMXpix) and all the fans ! Thank you !

"I just raced my race and it came out for the best."
